The Harness and Bridle Leather we use is Full Grain Leather. Full Grain Leather is the best quality leather available. Full Grain Leather refers to hides that have not been sanded, buffed, or snuffed (as opposed to corrected grain) to remove imperfections (or natural marks) on the surface of the hide. Full grain leather is extremely strong and durable, as the natural grain contains the strongest fibers in the hide.
Following is a description of the Harness Leather and English Bridle Leather We use to make our custom leather belts.
Our Harness Leather is USA cowhide/steerhide vegetable tanned Full grain leather that is stuffed with oils and tallows during the tanning process. Harness leather is produced with strength being the #1 priority, which means it is subjected to fewer waxes and oils than other leathers to preserve the strength of the fibers. It is nice and firm even at thinner weights. The majority of the harness leather we use is purchased non dyed from a USA tannery and hand dyed at our shop. We carry 8-9 oz (1/8"-9/64" thick) and 9-10 oz (9/64"-5/32" thick) harness leather. We also offer a single layer gun belt in 12+ oz (3/16"+)

English Bridle Leather is USA cowhide/steer hide vegetable tanned Full Grain leather. Our bridle leather is dyed in drums at the tannery in order to develop deep, consistent colors with waxes and tallows. English Bridle is smooth, flexible yet durable. Beautifully crafted with a flawless, even surface. When finished the leather will be stiff, though with usage over time will become soft and supple with very good strength. We carry 10-12 oz (5/32”- 3/16” thick) Bridle Leather. We also offer a single layer gun belt in 12+ oz.
